Being the baby has its advantages.
I spent every.single.day. of my early childhood with my Granny. While some kids preferred day care I would demand my mom drop me off at "Granny School", where I would promptly attach myself to my grandmother's side and stay all day. This definitely had its advantages. I got to drink the last drop of her coffee every morning, stayed up to date on soap operas, and learned to read from the newspaper. The best part, however, was what she really taught me.
You see, my Granny, a restaurant owner, baked for "The Shop" daily. There were no shortcuts! Every day I got to watch her roll out biscuits and stack layer after layer upon her award wining cakes. Granny was known all throughout Jacksonville for her cakes and cooking. The thing I really learned from her was the impact baking could have on someone's heart. She taught me all about the witnessing others authentically through food. Granny taught me how to love baking and people.
Lunella was my grandmother. Just like her, I have come to learn, there's nothing a big slice of cake and a warm hug can't fix. At Lunella's Bake Shop + Boards we know that a kind ear and a generous heart can make the biggest difference. And most of all, we know that the secret to life can be found by connecting with people through food. Our food and our connections have depth-nothing less than 3 layers.
Just like our cakes, our three layers motto is a reminder and commitment to go more than skin deep with those around us, to peel back our hardened shell and love big.
We promise that our goodies (both sweet & savory) will always be fresh, full of love and will bring everyone to the table. It's about witnessing connection, love and great food. So, come on-grab a slice!!

Texturally is there ANYTHING more satisfying than a brownie or bread? We love sharing brownies with friends and having our specialty breads in the morning with coffee.

Nothing less than 3 layers on our cakes. If that’s too much of a commitment, please grab the flavors you love in cupcake form.

There’s a reason that sometimes ONLY a cookie will do. If you ever wake up and find yourself craving a late night snack, our cookies are sure to knock that sweet tooth edge off.
